Thalassa House Institute of Psychotherapy and Psychiatric Rehabilitation
Healthcare
Mission
The Thalassa House Psychotherapy and Psychiatric Rehabilitation Institute provides help for adolescents and adults suffering from mental health difficulties to make steps in their recovery by means of living together in a therapeutic community and psychotherapeutic care. We provide a rehabilitation program for 160-180 patients a year for 3-6 months.
Underneath the psychotherapy needs of ourpatients are life difficulties, relationship breakdowns, addictionproblems, regular severe self-harming, moodinstability, chronic anxiety and various personality disorders that leave them hindered in their daily lives. Our institution is dedicated to support them, help them move towards recovery and independence by clinical care, also living and working together in a therapeutic community. In addition to classical psychotherapy sessions, other important elements of our activities are cleaning up our house and gardening in community, as well as providing non-verbaltherapies (arts, music, movement, psychodrama). Our institution is a public benefit NGO maintained by the Chance Instead Of Aid Foundation.
Fundraising goal
Our aim is to refurnish the daytime resting room for the patients
After an intense therapy session, our patients need a safe, calm space where they can get by the difficult feelings either surrounded by their peers or just by themeselves following an upsetting emotional work they have been through. While most of their rehabilitation days, our staff keep a careful eye on our patients, we want them to feel safe and secure in a condign and cosy room during their resting time as well. Currently a weary and simple daytime space serves this purpose, and we would like to use the Boonshelf donations to replace the current worn furniture and equipment.
